[Guide] Flashing your Motorola A1200/E6

This guide is for educational purpose only. I am not liable for any damage happens to you device during flashing. Flashing a Phone may void the warranty of your device. Do at your own Risk.

Requirements

> PC running Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7
> Motorola RSD Lite installed
> Motorola USB Driver Installed
> Firmware for your Motorola Phone (get it from here)
> Motorola Phone (for flashing)

Procedure

Charge your phone battery about minimum of 70% 
Install Motorola USB Driver (if not installed)
Install Motorola RSD Lite (if not installed)
Switch your Phone to flash mode (if phone not booting)
or connect your phone in modem mode.
To switch your phone to flash mode.
for Motorola A1200 : Press VR+Power key to switch to Flash mode.
for Motorola E6 : Press Camera key+Power key to switch to Flash mode.
connect your phone to PC using USB cable.
Start RSD Lite and browse the firmware you want to flash.
after you see the phone in RSD lite
click Start and initiate the flashing process.
Do not Panic while RSD Lite flashed the phone
it may take around 20 minutes depending upon firmware.
after flashing is complete phone will be rebooted automatically by RSD Lite.
after you flashing process is complete RSD Lite will show PASS in progress section

NOTE :

- Sometimes it may not show PASS after flashing is complete.
then disconnect your phone, turn it off and turn it back on
then got to Setup->USB mode  and choose modem mode.
and connect to PC using USB cable then it will show PASS.
- Sometimes it might say that flashing failed!
Then just remove the battery and again try flashing your phone.

If anyone has any problem can ask here. I will try to resolve problems as soon as possible

  1. Hi Kundan,
    when i power on my Motorola E6, it is only showing welcome screen(moto logo).
    what to do, is there any key combination to reset the phone

    1. Unfortunately there is no such key combination to reset Your E6
      You may have to flash your device to reset it, or you can try radiocomm to reset but I don’t know if it will work. There is no harm in trying though
      Your data will be erased in any case
      If you want straight forward solution flash your device to reset make sure you choose firmware fir your device

  2. Hi there sir kundan! , you have a nice modded firmware there, i have used it since you released it, i just didn’t catch a time to give you a feedback because my Internet connection is Damn Sick,.it’s so slow…

    i am hoping you will release a new upgraded FW in the Future….#fanofyours…keep it up

    1. Sorry to disappoint you but I am not working any more on firmwares for EZX devices
      reason:
      # I don’t have a proper working device to flash and test stuff on ( I don’t release untested stuff)

      1. thanks for the responce…i did read all your shares in your wordpress, i already using your GoldenBird FW since you released it last year (and waiting for a new one)., and it works fine in my Motorola Rokr E6…and it’s great…that says that i can flash my phone in easy steps, i have flashed my phone 5 times…using your method for last 4 years.

        it’s sad that you can’t continue on developing new Firmware, i love motorola because they have lots of modded FW….

        anyway i’ll keep you here in touch so i can ask for help if i have any concern and problems about our belove Device…cheers

  3. I FLASHED MY ROKR E6 N AFTER DAT IT IS NOT TURNING ON AND IS NOT EVEN GOING INTO MBM FLASH MODE……..IS IT DEAD??

    1. Q. Is your battery charged?
      Q. Was the flashing complete?
      Q. Which firmware you flashed to? was it of ROKR E6 or some other Motorola device?

      I never heard of phone getting dead after flashing using RSD Lite.
      try again and let me know what happens in brief and if your battery is working or not.

        I am looking for whatsapp for e6..the one i downloaded made for nokia s40 jar is not getting installed ..any ideas

      3. hi kundan…the jar installed..but registration is not happening..the country list doesn’t have INDIA (or maybe the list is not scrolling down)… but i manually entered the country code and my no. …the next screen shows that whatsapp is connecting …it tries for a min… then it abruptly returns back again to registration screen

      4. Well I don’t use my e6 anymore as my daily driver and I don’t have internet on my e6 so can’t tell what’s the exact problem with the app
        I modified the manifest so that the checks while installing won’t fail
        I haven’t modified the app code so no idea what’s the problem can’t help further on this
        That’s all I can say

  4. My E6 once showed me a red screen with word that i don’t remember this happened few times … Once it just turned off and i can’t turn it on .. I charged the battery but nothing … And I don’t know what to do ,, would you please help ME ! :S

    1. First of all you must check if your battery is dead or not. try recharging or using different battery to boot your phone.
      if it’s not booting then you must check if it is booting in bootloader mode to confirm that there is no hardware issue
      To got o bootloader mode use combo (Camera Key + Power Key) it will show a Red screen showing bootloader version and all stuff.

      if it is [only] booting in bootloader mode try connecting it to RSD lite and flash your device if you think that it won’t boot normal way.
      let me know if you have other issues. and flashing solves the problem

I followed as you said but I still can’t use RSD Lite I can’t browse My Phone ! /// when i plug it in the USB it gives a red screen “” knowing that it refuses to boot when its not plugged”” .. then the windows start to recognize it but it gives me that the device has errors :S …then the red screen disappear .. and it don’t boot when i press the Power button .. and RSD lite can’t find the device ! …

      2. Please describe errors properly as I am unable to guess the state of your problem. and If you are able to get your device in Bootloader Mode (RED SCREEN) then you should try flashing.

      3. and i don’t have a firmware to use in flashing 😕 … I don’t know how to use the RSD …

  5. I flashed Moto E6 – R533 G 11.12.08P firmware, after 35% it showed flashing failed, now I am not able to boot the phone.
    Every time I start, it shows MBM flash (red) screen. How to recover now???
    please anyone help me…

  6. OMG…am excited to say that my moto ming is still working and am changing firmware right now…:)..also the drivers for the phone is working in my windows 8 64bit..i cant believe that…:)

    1. Well I worked on GoldenBird for a long time but unfortunately before finalizing some applications my second E6 got damaged so I was unable to build the final release of GoldenBird but still this is also very usable build I am using since very long time no problems till now

      I have not tracked all features in GoldenBird as seprate motorolafans is down for a while you can find more info about firmware there 🙂

        install only if you feel neccessary most apps have minor tweeks and icon changes

        When i insert battery in E6 it automatically goes on in flash mode it doesn’t on in operational mode thats why i am trying to flash it.
        I flash my phone by rsd lite version 4.5.3 till 95% it goes perfect but after 95% it goes fail & i found RQHW error so please suggest what i have to do?

  10. I AM HAVING A1200 PHONE, I ONCE DID FLASHING WITH ALL THE SOFTWARE BUT MY PHONE NOW IS NOT WORKING IT IS SHOWING INVALID BATTERY, TOUCH SCREEN NOT WORKING, NO NETWORK. I CANT CONNECT MY PHONE WITH PC.

    PLS HELP ITS MY BEST PHONE, I LIKED IT VERY MUCH

    1. Firstly I would suggest you to flash a Generic Firmware on your A1200
      if you have a A1200r Flash a C2 track firmware
      Download Firmware : A1200R_HK_R532C2_G_11.31.25P.rar

      If flashing fails or you see the same problem then you may consider your phone bricked due to flashing wrong firmwares
      then you can try repairing your phone from bricked state by following post on forms http://goo.gl/bJzMt
